The PCMS Lady Pirates played a whopper of a game tonight vs Hichborn on their field, and took home the semi-final victory with a score of 15-9. They got down to business in the first inning, scoring 4 before it was over. They held Howland scoreless for several innings and lead all the way to the end. While not a perfect game, the girls put into practice what they've been being taught all season-to let those mistakes go and make the next play. They worked well together tonight. Stay tuned to see who they will face in the championship game! 🥎

Please be advised the PCES traffic loop will be blocked Friday afternoon, May 26th until approximately 2:15pm. 6th Grade students are raising money to purchase doors and windows for a village school in Tanzania as part of their Make A Difference Challenge. The loop around the building will be coned off to traffic so those in our Hike-A-Thon may safely walk the 5 miles in total. Parents needing to sign out a child/arriving for pick ups earlier than 2:15 will need to park and walk up/remain in line of cars waiting near our lower parking lot. PCES 6th Graders and our friends in Tanzania thank you in advance for your support and understanding!

Spring is here! HOORAY! As the outdoor activity picks up around here in terms of field trips, community clean up, etc, I'd like to remind you all of several things. Sunscreen may be brought and used by your student with written permission. Please send in a sprayless form so as not to trigger asthmatic reactions in other students. It is expected that the student will apply it. A teacher "may" help, per state guidelines but is not responsible for its application. This is considered a topical medication, and the type used must comply with FDA regulations. Alternately, applying sunscreen at home may help buffer the sun. I'd also suggest sending a hat for those outside days. Ticks are abundant this year. I've seen an increase in teachers using the outdoor classroom from both schools. What a great place to hold class! Bug spray may not be brought to school but can be applied at home on the known field trip/outdoor days. Please check your students regularly for ticks. They move in an upward direction and seek out warm places-groins, armpits, back of necks. A good way to find them before they embed into the skin is to wear long pants tucked into socks, tuck shirts into pants, and wear light colors so they can be easily spotted. As always, a water bottle is a critical part of the health and wellbeing of everyone. Please send your child with a water bottle each day. As the days get warmer, and they do more outside activities, dehydration can happen a lot faster. Mrs. Viera
