The full results from today's meet are in, and are available on sub5.com. The first meet of the year is typically one to shake the rust off, and we prepared this week to treat it as such. When I consider the facts; the loss of the season last year, 5 of our 8 athletes being in their first varsity outdoor meet, many of them competing in events for the first time, being the smallest team at the meet, the very high winds and training with our facilities under construction, what these athletes accomplished today was impressive to say the least. Our small team placed 11 times in various events, with a couple championship meet qualifications. On the boys side, Ty Massie finished 6th in long jump, with a jump of 16-08.25. He also took second in Javelin, with a throw of 114-10. Alex Shedd placed 5th in the 800m, with a time of 3:24.32 Our girls team finished the meet 2nd in points. Samantha Goodwin took 5th in the 200m, with a time of 32.73 Molly Sipple placed 1st in the 100m, with a time of 14.13, qualifying her her for PVCs, and provisionally for States. She also took 1st in the 800m, with a time of 2:51.10, and 6th in shot put with a throw of 24-00.75 Ariana Fanjoy took 5th in the 100m, with a time of 14.63 and 4th in the 800m, with a time of 3:14.33 Kendall Kimball took 3rd in javelin with a throw of 74-06, qualifying her for PVCs. In the 4x100m relay, Molly Sipple, Kendall Kimball, Taylor Folsom, and Ariana Fanjoy took 2nd, with a time of 59.35 Excellent job by all athletes today! Coach P

Just in from the MPA. SUCH GREAT NEWS!! Patty Newman 1:54 PM (33 minutes ago) to Face Covering Update Based on the recent announcement regarding the wearing of face masks at outdoor events, the following guidelines will be in place for those events overseen by the Maine Principals’ Association. Please know that these recommendations fully align with the Maine Community Sport Guidelines that have been updated. Masks are not required for outdoor practices and competitions. Masks are recommended when 6 feet of physical distance is hard to maintain (e.g., athletes on the bench). They are also required when individuals go inside (e.g., to locker rooms, rest rooms, or on a bus). Spectators are not required to wear a mask at outside events if they are able to maintain 6 feet of distancing.

Mask Guidelines Until we receive new guidelines from the MPA/DOE it is recommended that spectators wear mask coverings and social distance 6'. The MPA will be out with new guidelines soon.

Mask restrictions update! As some of you may have already heard, the governor has lifted the masks restrictions for the outdoors, AS LONG AS PEOPLE SOCIAL DISTANCE. I have spoken with MPA and for now, athletes will still have to wear masks outside. Being that the whole reason athlete's are required to wear masks outside, the superintendent association finds it difficult to make kids wear masks in school but not during practices and games. So if a change is made on this front, it still may come with a fight. Stay tuned.

Today's tennis match at Dexter has been moved to tomorrow, same time same place.

I'd like to remind all parents that when you travel to away games, whether you have read the home school guidelines, YOU HAVE TO SOCIAL DISTANCE by maintaining 6' if you are not with a family member. Thanks for understanding. Some AD's coach and employ someone to manage the game, so they may be less likely to speak to you in the event you aren't following the guidelines. On another note, LEE Academy is the only school at this time who is not allowing spectators as their facilities make it difficult to follow the CDC guidelines. I do not believe the games will be streamed at this time.

It will take me a while to get full results, but the PCHS track team did exceptionally well today. We placed 11 times with only 8 athletes. A couple qualifications for championship meets as well. Stay tuned for full results!

PCSS Athletics Spectator Protocols Now that the state executive order has been changed, spectators will now be permitted to be present at all PCSS and PCMS athletic activities. In order for PCHS/PCMS to host athletic events, the Governors/MDOEC Community Sports Guidelines must still be followed to ensure the safety of all spectators and game participants while at any of our athletic fields. Please view the following instructions below for spectators: * Fans must use designated areas for the event they are attending. Viewing areas will be marked and portable bathrooms will be at each venue. The bathrooms in the school will not be available. * Spectators MUST BE MASKED AT ALL TIMES. —Fully vaccinated individuals does not preclude them from this rule. * Spectators must maintain a 6 foot space while attending the event unless they reside in the same household or are family members. * Spectators will be distanced from all players, coaches, and officials. * There will be either white lines or white circles that will designate areas between events to keep people separated and safe. If there is an X, with two white lines on either side, no one is permitted in that area. A single white X represents a spot for one individual. Baseball *Parking will be available along the road and at the third baseline fence for the home team. Visitors will be designated along the 1st baseline fence. If there is no tennis match, spectators can park in the parking lot. It is recommended that parents stay around their own vehicles. *If a spectator chooses to sit or stand outside of their vehicle, you must have a mask on. If you are sitting inside your car, you don’t. *A portable toilet will be available *Spectators will not be able to sit behind home plate as that is where we plan on putting the athletes that can’t fit in the dugout. This area will be roped off. *A porta potty will be available Softball *No vehicles will be allowed to park outback on the grass in right center. The ground is too soft. *Parking will be available in the school parking lot *A portable toilet will be accessible at some point in time. It may not be available until Friday, April 30. *Visiting spectators will be seated from right field to center field, behind the fence along the hillside. *Home spectators will be seated in left field behind the fence and on the hill. There will be 6 foot circles painted on the ground and 6 foot white lines along the outfield fence. At no time should a parent go near the team area for any sport. All players, coaches, and spectators are to wear their masks 100% of the time while at our sporting events, whether as a spectator or simply picking your child up after a scheduled practice. Team Drop Off Areas and Parking Baseball and Tennis *Drop off for tennis will be at the tennis courts on the backside (Riverside) of the court as this will be your team area. *Drop off for baseball will be in the parking lot along the 1st baseline. *A porta potty will be available by the dugouts. Softball *Drop off for the visiting team should be in front of the school where you will enter the field from the 1st base line. *The home team needs to be at their dugout before the visiting team arrives. If not possible, both teams should not be walking down to the field together. Dugout situation: For both baseball and softball, at least 9 individuals can be in our dugouts at one time. The benches will be clearly marked with spots 6 feet apart. There will also be chairs in there as well and they must remain on the spots as found. When a team is up to bat, the non starters will be outside the dugouts, sitting or standing in designated spots. When your team is in in the outfield, the non starters can enter the dugouts.
