Lunchtime!
My essential staff working hard to get food and more work out to our students. I am so appreciative of their commitment to our students.
March 26, 2020
Dear Families,
I hope all of you are well and are finding ways to take care of yourselves, whether it is going for a walk, trying a new recipe or craft, or reading a book/magazine. For me, I love joining the teachers’ Google Classrooms and seeing student comments and work. I even called one student to share my excitement about what she created!
Tomorrow, Friday the 27th, the big yellow busses will be rolling, and members of the administrative team will be riding them to deliver new packets, supplies and/or materials. Also, volunteers will be riding the busses to deliver food for the weekend. The busses should arrive between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. If the bus cannot get down your road, we will try to call 10 minutes ahead and plan to meet you. The last bag of school materials was tied at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, so to follow the 72-hour guideline, wait until 2:30 p.m. Friday before opening your treasure.
When work is completed, you may bring it to school and put it in the barrel, which is tied to the front door. However, do NOT return math books, because they are needed to continue learning. Each day, we pull the bag from the barrel, tie it, and set it aside for the required 72 hours. Then, the work is sorted and the teacher notified. The teacher will pickup the work during school hours, as only essential staff has access to the building now. Because this process is inconvenient for families and creates quite a delay in informing instruction and student feedback, we are working hard to make all our assessments digital. Please let the teacher know A.S.A.P. if you do not have Internet. Help may be available in the weeks to come.
Our staff has been working to identify the most essential learning in each content area and has been brainstorming ways for students to demonstrate their learning. During this process, all assessments are to inform teaching, so for now, assignments will show in PowerSchool as collected, not graded. We will still report on what students know and are able to do at the end of the trimester. We will be working on creating additional learning time for students to gain the skills that they did not demonstrate during Distance Learning.
I hope everyone stays healthy! If you have questions, please call me at 876-4301.
Best Wishes,
Anita Wright

Dear Families,
I hope you are well. By now, you know that we will not be in session physically until April 27th. As a staff, we are creating a Distance Learning Program to continue education for our children.
In the days ahead, you can expect:
1. New learning materials will be either delivered or ready for pick up with the new packets starting on March 30th. These materials include math workbooks, possible reading material, supplies, and/or hands-on materials.
a. If the bus stops at your house normally, then food and/or packets will be delivered. If you normally transport your child, then please call (876-4301) before coming to school to pick up the packets so we can have them ready.
b. To ensure safety for everyone, all materials are bagged and set aside for a 3-day decontamination period. Gloves will be used during delivery.
c. Please ONLY return the work that needs to be corrected and be sure the work is in the folder or bundled, as it will be bagged and set aside for the 3-day period.
Completed work must be dropped off at school. Put the bundled work in the bin provided. Also, double check that your child’s name is on all work.
2. We are moving quickly to increase our online presence. Teachers are creating digital avenues such as:
a. Learning resources on the internet;
b. YouTube Channels to teach and explain new material;
c. Google Voice accounts so they can call or text with you if email doesn’t work; and
d. Google Classrooms or Seesaw accounts so you can easily find material and/or email assessments.
If you need Internet or if your Internet is slow, we recommend calling your cell phone company to add a hotspot and/or more data. Vouchers may be available. If you need one, explain that you have children at home who need to access distance learning. Please know if you have no access, we will continue to support with packets to the best of our ability.
We want to stay connected with you as much as possible. I will continue to work from school, as will the office staff. Additionally, our teachers are reaching out to each student to assist in anyway possible. You may want to make a list of questions about the resources, assignments, and assessments and/or ask for suggestions about teaching strategies.
Let’s hope we’re back at school soon. Meanwhile, feel free to call 876-4301. Stay safe out there!
Best Always,
Anita Wright, P.C.E.S. Principal

A message from Mr. Arthers:
To all my art students,
I hope you take some time to express yourself creatively during this time away from school. When you complete a project from your packet or your own independent piece of artwork, take a picture of it and send it to my email. You can also return the actual piece to school with your other school work. I would love to post some of your artwork on my SAD 4 website so your friends can see it too.Take care and be safe.

This came in an email from Teaching Strategies Gold:
This morning our CEO sent out an email to all of our partners with a link to a free digital ReadyRosie Toolkit, derived from our family engagement tool. The email is supposed to go out to all administrators, but our distribution lists are not always accurate. In any case, I want to reach out personally to make sure you have the link. On the link, you will find videos of learning activities that can be done at home as well as advice from a pediatrician and early childhood experts on how to talk to children about the pandemic and how to keep them safe. If you click on the “Learning at Home” tab and then select one of the “Explore the Activities” buttons, you will find a Modeled Moment video and links to related Creative Curriculum Mighty Minutes and LearningGames PDFs that can be printed. We will be periodically updating it with more learning activities.
